“Caleb is a great musician and a natural teacher. He is able to help out on a lot of different aspects of my growth from music theory training, technical advice, or working on transcription. He curates a lesson based on a combination of what you would like to work on and his lesson plans. Also he is an amazing Conga player!” ~ Fahad P.

Meet Caleb
I'm Caleb—a working musician in New York City who performs on electric and acoustic guitar and conga drums.
My teaching approach is based on understanding with our bodies FIRST— by hearing what we play before we play it, internalizing rhythm in our feet, moving and dancing to what we play—and then using our minds and theory to understand the music SECOND.
FAQ
DO I Need my Own Guitar?
No! I have electric and acoustic guitars in my home-studio for students to use during our lessons. We can work together to figure out the best guitar for the student to buy based on goals and budget. For classes in student homes, owning a guitar may be necessary.
I’ve never PLayed music before. Is that Ok?
Yes! I specialize in teaching beginners the basics of music and the guitar. We will get you going with the tools you need to start making music through the guitar.
Do You Teach Children?
Yes! I love working with kids and their parents. Whether your child is looking for a creative outlet, NYC specialty high school preparation, or just to try something new, I am excited to work together.
Do you Teach other Instruments?
Yes! I also teach the fundamentals of conga drums and other latin percussion instruments for those interested in playing music such as Salsa, Cumbia, Son, Bolero, and Funk. I regularly incorporate piano and vocal instruction into my lessons for guitarists.
